Injuries Black Friday gave me

Here is a funny little story I wrote about Black Friday:

You are lying in your hospital bed. It is a struggle to move. You look down at your battered body and you know that you are lucky to even be alive. A nurse opens the door to let you know that your parents are here to see you and they come running into your hospital room, clamoring over you and showering you with hugs and kisses.

They all have the same questions, “Are you OK?! Were you in an accident?! What happened to you?!”

All you can manage to mutter is, “Black Friday happened.”

Your sprained ankle happened right away. As you were waiting outside of the mall, the crowd of super saving mall goers seemed to multiply by the second. Right when you looked down just to make sure that your sneakers were tied and you were ready to get this rat race started, the doors opened and a petite mom stomped on your ankle trying to make her way through. Not so bad, you can still make your way through the mall, even if you have a tiny gimp.

You barely even count your ankle as your first real injury; your swollen lip won that title. While in the Best Buy, trying to get the iPhone 5s in your favorite color — a woman tried to reach for it right as you did. Thinking you could just grab it from her and run, you reached out your arm and in doing so she must have thought you were about to hit her, because boy did she sucker punch you right in the mouth.

While at the DSW, you were too busy carrying two boxes of boots, three pairs of sandals, five stilettos and two pairs of wedges to see a rack of shoes in front of you. You trip…shoes go flying everywhere and unfortunately landing right on the poorly designed rack was a horrible accident. The metal bars combusted, leaving you with a broken rib. But alas, the shopping must continue.

At Sephora, you grab the last bottle of your boyfriend’s favorite cologne. Christmas is not too far away so you figure you might as well get his gift now. Right as you grab it, a man comes running up to you, claiming that he saw the bottle first and it was his. He actually reaches into your cart and tried to grab it from you and you hold the bottle with all your might. In the feisty fiasco, he yanks at your arm so hard that he breaks your wrist, but your adrenaline is running so fast that instead of screaming in pain, you judo chop him and make a dash for the cash register.

Finally at the Macy’s you are purchasing your very last items… you are in pain, you may have some internal bleeding, but it’s OK, you will be out of here in just a few minutes. As the clerk hands back your credit card and you think you are safe, a herd of pre-teens come running in as they were alerted that Justin Bieber’s new line of whatever is now extra double half off.

“Was it worth it?” your mother asks.

“The deals, mom…the deals are always worth it.”

Dazzling up your nails

Since the end of the year is coming and that means it is holiday time, the only thing that comes to my mind is sparkles! I don't know about you, but my Christmas and New Year's is full of glitter, sparkles and flash!

Therefore, I have decided to get a little glitzy with my nail polish, but in a subtle way so that I don't look like too gaudy. I like to celebrate holidays, not be the holiday.

I used Sally Hanson- Extreme Wear "Strobe Light". I started off with a very light coat all over my nail, and let it dry for about 5 minutes, than I did a thick coat, but just over the last 3rd of my nail to give it a cool, gradient effect. Of course, I topped it off with a clear coat. Now my nails have a hint of glamor and glitter!

I will probably do this look again for New Year's but with a gold polish. Can't wait ;)

Black Friday just passed, today is Cyber Monday. Finding deals is on my mind...

All I do is thrift, thrift, thrift no matter what!

Who doesn't love a good deal? Everyone loves a good deal, that's who. One of my favorite places to find amazing clothes for cheap is Sandy's Savvy Chic Resale Boutique of 4148 NW 13th St in Gainesville, Florida. There is only a Sandy's in Gainesville as far as I am aware, but I am telling you, there should one of these perfect little stores on pretty much every street corner!

The concept of Sandy's is the same as Plato's. Gently used clothes, sold at a fraction of it's previous cost. It is not just women's clothes either, they have kid's clothes, jewelery, shoes, purses, home decor, and even lotions and perfumes. Fellas, there is even a vast selection for you too!

On one of my recent trips there I was able to pick up quite a few pieces that I loooove and cannot wait to wear around town.

A bright orange cotton lace crop top
A burnt orange chiffon high-low shirt with a little blue bow pattern over it
A black chiffon shirt with gold buttons
A dramatic black top with a low back and lace detail
A Forever 21 black skater skirt
A Forever 21 blue high-low skirt (perfectly paired with my orange crop top for UF game days!)
Two string tie Cotton On skirts (one black and one navy blue with while polka dots)
A navy blue pair of cotton high waisted shorts
A pair of tan heels with gold accents
A pair of BCBG black strappy heels
A grey Nine West purse

Do you want to guess how much I got this all for?? Come on... guess...
Give up? I got this all for $97 dollars. I did not even break $100! Do yourself and your wallet a favor and try out Sandy's if you are in the Gainesville area. If you don't live here, than look up some thrift/consignment stores near you. You won't believe the deals you find!

One nail, two nail, three nail, red nails

Not only is fashion and style about picking out the clothes you love, but it is about keeping up with appearances on all other parts of your bod, and in this case, I am talking about nails!

For guys, really all most of you do is clip them and that is totally fine.

However, for the ladies out there, most of you probably like to give your nails a little color every now and then.

Now, I feel like my hands look really manly if I don't have them a little bit longer, so I usually grow them out to be just past the length of my finger, I file them down so they are more square then round and I always make sure that they are clean because one of my biggest fears in life is to look down at my hands and see dirt under my nails.

The color that I choose today was a "Ruby Red" by Sinful Colors. One of the things that I love about this line is how easily it comes off and how it does not stain my nails at all.

I generally like to put a base coat on my nail first, followed by one to two coats of whatever color I choose and than a a clear coat on top to give it nice shine.

I allow there to be a 5-10 minute wait in between each coat to let the polish dry properly so that I don't get those pesky bed marks on my nails by the next morning (you all know what I am talking about!).

****Tip****
A tip that my friend taught me to keep the nail polish from getting all over  your hands and to make your nail look slimmer is to not paint the nail all the way down to the sides of your nail. It give the illusion of a thinner nail!

What colors do you like?

Winter is among us!

Hello!

It is November now, and in Florida that may not mean much compared to the northern states like New York or Chicago, but it is cold enough for me to wear one of my very, very favorite pieces of clothes... SCARVES!

I think scarves are absolutely adorable and they really bring an outfit together during those colder months. I wish I had more, but considering I live in one of the hottest states in America, there is no point in me having a crazy collection so I have three scarves  in three neutral colors that will go with just about anything: black, brown, and cream.

Today I pulled out the brown one and layered it over a large white wool sweater, with black pants and tan shoes. It was casual enough to head off to class, but it was also really cute because no matter what, I always like to be presentable. You just never know who you are going to meet out in the world!

As it gets even colder, I will be getting out more jackets and sweaters and layering them with scarves and hey, I may even get a few more scarves in more bold colors just to add a little zest to my closet!

Keep warm out there guys!

Welcome, and nice to meet you!

Well hey there!

Let me start off with the basics, My name is Ashley Mondesir and I am a Telecommunications major at the fantastic University of Florida. I could sit here and list a bunch of random facts, but that would just take way too long. Do you want to know one little secret though? Oh, you do? Come here...come close... deep down inside of me is a crazy fashion monster that is dying to get out and right here on this very site you are going to get a look at all the styles, accessories and clothes that I wish (BUT ONE DAY WILL HAVE) I had.

Be prepared to see casual, formal, and sometimes even outlandish attire. Also be prepared for a laugh or two because as much as I love talking about looking good, I am not afraid to talk about things that are not quite as chic. Don't be scared, if you see something you like, comment!

If you want to see other things that I have had to say about fashion, check out another blog that I am running with a dear friend of mine that is all about that PFF. You wanna know what PFF stands for? Looks like you are just going to have to click right here to find out!

Look out for a post coming soon!
